First thing to decide is if you want a cassette or freecoaster. A cassette has the loud clicking sound and makes the cranks to pedal backward when you roll backwards. This is usually chosen by park and trail riders because they need ever single stroke the cranks have to hit big airs or jumps. A freecoaster is designed to disengage the pedaling mechanism in the hub so you can free coast rolling backwards the same as rolling forward. Most street or park riders choose this because they can do backwards tricks or 180's a lot easier and opens up a lot more tricks for them.
3/8" axle or 14mm axle, Most rider have a 3/8" axle in the front and 14mm in the rear. Most frames are this way as well, so it just makes sense. Let's start with the front, we highly suggest 3/8" female axle in the front. 3/8" because most tricks on your front axle are lighter on the hits. We also suggest a female axle because almost all female front hubs use a standard front axle and are very easily replaced at a fraction of the cost of a male 3/8" axle. If you are not running pegs on the rear, most riders use a 3/8" female axle to lighten up their bike. Most 3/8" female rear wheel have a 14mm inner axle to ride on your frame and the bolt is simply bolted in. If you are riding pegs on the rear, we suggest a 14mm male or female axle. We highly suggest a 14mm male axle because they are easily replaceable and most brand have replacement axles available all the time.
What is RHD and LHD? They stand for Right Hand Drive & Left hand drive. We suggest you ride what is compatible with your bike, Most cranks are compatible with both. Your sprocket & chain will have to be removed and installed on the other side if you choose the other side. the rule of thumb is that if you ride right foot forward your run LHD and if you are left foot forward you run RHD. Mainly is what way you feel comfortable doing 360's. If you spin counter clockwise, we suggest LHD if you spin clockwise run RHD. This is to keep your sprocket and chain away from the side you grind the most to prevent your sprocket from bending or chain from breaking. This makes your parts last longer.
Most wheels come with 36 spokes which is strong and light for bmxing. The rim is going to make your wheel last longer. We suggest spending as much as you can, the more expensive the wheel, the better hub and rim it will have. Single wall rim are light and inexpensive, double wall are slightly heavier but worth their weight. If you can afford a aftermarket rim on your wheel, snag it.
